FAQs
Where can I get free high-quality images or photos for my website?
It doesn’t matter whether you think of yourself as a blogger or website content creator high-quality images are going to be important. Below I’ve listed sources for images and photos.
What’s the difference between free and royalty-free images and photos?
Free can mean so many different things. Completely free images and photos are usually distributed under what’s called a Creative Commons Licence (CC) others are considered in the Public Domain and also can be free to use. Make sure that whoever is giving permission really owns the rights to the image. You also need to check the exact terms of the CC license, is it allowing commercial use – some don’t. In contrast royalty-free images you typically pay for the image. The free part of royalty-free indicates that you don’t have to keep paying royalty fees even if you use it multiple times.
Are Google images copyright free?
Almost certainly not. Google provides you with search results from all over the wonderful world wide web so images and photos it displays can come from any website and they, the photographer, or an agency own the copyright. You can try asking permission but don’t hold your breath and definitely don’t expect free.
